Privacy policy
MindRocket is made for children, so we built it to know as little as possible about them. This page explains, in plain words, what that means.
The short version
- We don’t collect personal information from children, or from you.
- No accounts, no cookies, no ads, no analytics trackers and no third-party services.
- Your child’s nickname, avatar and progress stay on your device.
- The optional family code stores only an encrypted copy of game progress that we cannot read. Unused backups are deleted after about 13 months.
- You can export or delete everything from the parent area at any time.
Who we are
MindRocket is a free brain-training game for children of about 6 to 10. The name of the operator will be published here before launch.
We follow the principles of the US Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation’s rules for children (often called GDPR-K): collect as little as possible, nothing that identifies a child, and parents in control.
What we collect
Nothing that identifies your child or you. There is no sign-up, so we never ask for a name, email address, birthday, photo or location.
To work, the game saves some information on your device only, in your browser’s storage:
- the nickname and avatar your child chooses (a made-up name is perfect);
- game progress: levels, stars, records, rewards and time played;
- settings, such as the voice, sounds, the daily time limit and your parent PIN.
This information is not sent to us. The game files themselves are also kept on your device by your browser, so MindRocket can work offline.
The family code (optional)
If you turn on a family code in the parent area, progress can be synced between your devices or restored later. Here is how we keep that private:
- Your device turns the code into an encryption key. The key never leaves your device.
- Game progress is encrypted on your device before it is sent. Names are not included.
- Our server stores only the encrypted copy and a scrambled identifier. It cannot read the progress or tell who it belongs to.
- Backups that nobody opens for about 13 months (400 days) are deleted automatically.
- You can delete the backup at any time from the parent area.
Anyone who knows the code can open the backup, so keep it private. Because we can’t read it, we can’t recover a lost code.
No cookies, ads, trackers or third parties
MindRocket sets no cookies at all, not even “necessary” ones. There are no ads, no analytics or tracking tools, no social media buttons and no third-party scripts. Fonts and images come from our own server, so using MindRocket doesn’t make your browser contact Google, Facebook or anyone else.
Bip speaks using the voice built into your device. MindRocket prefers voices that run on the device itself. Some browsers on computers also offer online voices run by the browser maker; you can see and change the voice in the parent settings.
Server logs and security
MindRocket’s own server code never stores IP addresses. To protect the family-code service from abuse, it counts requests using a salted hash of the IP address that changes every day, so it can’t be turned back into an address or used to follow anyone over time.
Your rights as a parent
Because the data lives on your device, you are in control without asking anyone:
- See it: the parent area (hold the grown-ups button for 3 seconds, then enter your PIN) shows progress per skill and time played.
- Export it: download all of your child’s data as a file from the parent area.
- Delete it: delete everything from the parent area, or clear this site’s data in your browser settings, or remove the installed app.
- Delete the backup: if you use a family code, delete the online copy from the parent area.
We hold no personal data, so there is nothing we could look up by name. You are still welcome to contact us with any question or request.
Children’s privacy
MindRocket is designed for children under 13. We don’t collect personal information from children, we don’t show ads or build profiles, and there is no chat, no public profile, no online leaderboard and no way to contact strangers. Grown-up settings sit behind a hold-to-open button and a PIN.
Changes to this policy
If anything changes, we will update this page and the date at the top. If we ever wanted to collect more information, we would ask parents first, as the law requires.
